2008 Summer Technology Institute

WOW--tons of very valuable information . . . so much to remember. My main "strand" is "on-line communities." So far we've had a lot of discussion around the resources we need, what are the best practices, and some of the roadblocks we encounter. We are learning how to use many teacher tools and are currently concentrating on making blogs. We have formed a collaborative blog with links to our individual blogs to complete our assignments. Pretty cool! Tonights assignment is to create one or two blog "posts" and "tag" them with certain predesignated tags so we can better understand how that is important in managing our vast quantities of information over time. So here's my first post.

April 2008 Pierce Pond

The end of April and still snow up to our knees in places. The JetSled worked great to get our supplies in, even across the huge puddle. Short Jeep/Pickup treks . . . the Eddy . . . the gorge where we found a complete deer skeleton . . . pond with ducks where we picnicked and bird watched . . . Flagstaff where we explored, collected drift wood, found a Tarzan Swing and frolicked on ice bergs . . . our decisive trip to the store . . . moose . . . and crazy charades!!! Can't wait to do it again.

Fall 2007--Antioch Friends

Pierce Pond in October--We caught the foliage at peak. A few wonderful days at camp with my two sons, daughter-in-law, and their friends. Lots of people had planned to tent--only one group did. We had bodies and pets wall-to-wall in the camp, even on the benches. Cold nights, chilly days, fabulous foliage, great company, wonderful stories around the campfire, music and homemade instruments, pets, hiking, rock climbing, and amazing food. Who could ask for more? More could only be to make it happen more often with these awesome people who truly appreciate the natural beauty of Pierce Pond and all it has to offer.

Borneo Adventure--Summer 2007

Definitely the biggest adventure of my entire life so far . . . now that I have experienced one, I want many more. Not only did I get to spend 30 days in an amazing place with some wonderful people, but I was able to spend it with my son, Jason. I had him all to myself :). What Mom wouldn't bask in that!
